As any experienced trial lawyer knows, nothing is more critical to a favorable outcome in a plaintiff personal injury case than picking a fair and unbiased jury. In recent years there has been a flurry of appellate cases impacting voir dire in civil cases. First came Cordes and Shinal which dealt with the grounds for disqualifying jurors who arguably expressed bias, and then even more recently came the Trigg case which held that trial judges must be present for jury selection if deference is to be given their rulings on challenges for cause. This program will do a “deep dive” into these critical voir dire issues so that you are prepared to pick the best, most unbiased jury you can for your client.Expand summary
