Auto Minimum Limits Would Increase Under New Bill Introduced

Pennsylvania Association for Justice

You asked PAJ to be proactive in Harrisburg on behalf of your clients and your practices and we heard you!

Yesterday, Rep. Brian Ellis (R-Butler) introduced HB 1258, an amendment to the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility law to increase the minimum auto insurance limits to $30,000/$60,000/$10,000.

The introduction of this important legislation would not have been possible without your support and the dedicated efforts of our lobbying team in Harrisburg. Dave Tyler and Tom Previc have built an impressive, bipartisan coalition of cosponsors that gives this legislation a great opportunity to become law. Any lawyer who has had clients touched by coverage tragedies knows the importance of these efforts.

We now ask that when your legislator is “home” in your district that you personally reach out to them and share your experience, coverage tragedy stories and emphasize the good that this legislation will do for families in their community. Hats off to Dave and Tom for getting PAJ on the offensive in the Capital!

Informed Consent: The Relationship Between Doctor and Manufacturer

The Legal Intelligencer

“When a physician implants a device in a patient, does informed consent require the doctor to tell the patient of any financial relationship the physician or the institution he works for has with the manufacturer or distributor of the product? Behind that question lies a more subtle issue as to whether discovery on the financial relationship between a doctor or his employer and the manufacturer/distributor should be permitted.” Read More >

Pennsylvania Supreme Court race could attract millions from outside funders

The Philadelphia Inquirer

"A Wisconsin ad said a Supreme Court hopeful had protected a priest accused of sex abuse. An Alabama mailing portrayed a high-court candidate there as a marionette with his strings pulled by President Obama, dressed like Marlon Brando in The Godfather. A Michigan TV ad asked "How could you?" because a Supreme Court candidate once aided a Guantanamo Bay detainee's defense. Could these be a preview of Pennsylvania's Supreme Court race?"
